Seismology is an independent app. It is NOT affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency or public entity, and it does not officially represent one or provide government services. It only republishes data already published by the official agencies listed in full at the end of this description.

Seismology brings together, in one app, earthquake reports from six official seismological agencies - USGS, CSN, SSN, EMSC, GeoNet and JMA - plus tsunami bulletins from the three NOAA tsunami centers, and notifies you the moment an earthquake happens near you. And now, free: Family alerts, to know your family is OK after an earthquake.

REAL-TIME INFORMATION
Push notifications when an earthquake happens near you, based on your location and the distance to the epicenter. You can also choose to be notified only when the intensity estimated for your location is at least weak, moderate or strong.

FAMILY ALERTS, FREE
Create your family group and invite them on WhatsApp. After an earthquake, tap "Ask my family": everyone gets "Are you OK?" and answers with one tap from the notification, "I'm OK" or "I need help", with a note if needed. Everyone sees the family's status on a board. You can run a drill to practice. Your family never sees your location. Requires signing in with Google, Apple or Microsoft. Not an emergency service.

INTERACTIVE MAP
See all recent earthquakes on a map with markers sized by magnitude and colored by depth. Tap one to see its magnitude, depth, local and UTC times, distance from you, the agency that reported it and a link to its official report.

COMMUNITY COMMENTS
Post how you felt the quake and read what others in the area are reporting.

FILTERS AND SEARCH
Filter by agency, minimum magnitude and distance. Search earthquakes from the last 30 days, or the full history with Pro.

PRIVACY
No account is needed for the main features. Your location is used to show nearby earthquakes; for alerts, it is sent to our server, which decides which ones to send you.

FREE, WITH OPTIONAL PRO
The app and its main features are free. Seismology Pro, an optional subscription, adds alerts for several locations, the estimated intensity at your location, the full earthquake history and no ads.

Seismology does not predict earthquakes and is not a replacement for official early-warning systems (ShakeAlert in the US, SASMEX in Mexico, JMA in Japan). It is an informational app showing events that have already occurred, as reported by the official agencies.

Seismology Pro is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewable subscription. The price for your country is shown in the app before you confirm the purchase.
Payment will be charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings.
